Lakeview Church is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural church located at the center of the urban and suburban community on the westside of Indianapolis. We believe that Jesus Christ is the giver of life, both abundant and eternal. We believe that the Church is not a building, but a community of followers of Christ. We embrace a culture of encouragement which supports Christ-followers to grow in their knowledge and love for the true, living God through relationships. We are about reaching the lost, discipling believers and tangibly expressing the love of God to people in the greater Indy area as well as globally.

Our sermon today, November 27, comes from Youth Pastor, Rob Haslett.

Josiah the Reformer…Choose today who you will serve.

Theme verse: Joshua 24:15 (NIV84)
“But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

Text: 2 Kings 18-23
Josiah didn’t allow his culture, or society to dictate his morality, rather, he realized his ability to influence others and gained a view of the scriptures that propelled him to be an agent of change in his time, in his generation.

1. Realize the Value of Scripture
2. Realize the Value of Your Influence

Be a thermostat! Stand for Godly principles and live to challenge & change your environment. Cultivate a new love for the word of God, realize the value of scripture in your life. Realize also the value of your influence on those around you. Be a thermostat, be a Josiah.

The answer can be found in part through the vision the Apostle John had when he saw the risen savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Revelation 1:10 “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, 11-saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” 12-Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. 17-And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18-I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.”

What did Jesus do during the three days His body laid in the grave? The answer is astonishing; He WENT TO HELL FOR US!

1. THE JOY OF WORSHIP- “Joyful praise [to God in loud voices.”] Luke 19:3

There are Three Excuses we use to Not Worshipping Joyfully:

a. Circumstances

This week at Lakeview, Pastor Randy Quackenbush spoke on the season of manna. This was a season during the Israelites’ travel to the Promised Land. It was a difficult time because they only received just enough manna for each day. It was also an amazing time because God always provided and showed His faithfulness to them by blessing them with food each day. After 40 years, the manna stopped filling the desert floor each morning. Though the manna ceased, generations to come would hear the lessons learned through this wilderness experience. Here are some of those lessons.

1 . A Season of Manna includes Daily Miracles -Exodus 16:13-15

2. A Season of Manna is Intended to Humble You -Deuteronomy 8:2a

3. A Season of Manna will Test You - Deuteronomy 8:2

4. A Season of Manna Points us to the Bread of Life -John 6:47-51a
