Is there such a thing as a pure offering? Yes. And there is also an impure offering which, when offered to God does not get a favorable response. God delights in cheerful, pure offerings that represent the very best that we have. Make sure to consider the quality of your offering before you hold it up to the nose of the Lord. He does check to see the quality of it! Jesus said the widows mite was the best and biggest offering of the day!

God is a giver. He leads by example, and of course He gave the greatest offering of all. God gave His Son. He placed Jesus on the altar. Jesus became the sacrificial lamb ‘offered’ for the sins of the world. The Father made the “soul of the son an offering for sin.” Amazing offering! What do we have to offer to the King?

“Bring an offering and come into His courts.” The old time preachers used to say, don’t come to worship God with empty hands! Worship and the giving of offerings are intricately woven together. The modern day worshiper can sometimes feel as if the offering time intrudes on true worship, but it’s just the opposite. True worship is impossible without joyfully, willingly, and generously giving to the Lord an offering.
